Teaching Focus

As we are not native speakers, grammar helps us to understand the structure that governs the composition of clauses, phrases, and words in English. We follow the latest Primary English Curriculum published by Education Bureau and abided to the latest CDC English Curriculum Guide for local school students, and provides clear and concise explanations of grammar rules to students during lessons.

We also use the renowned Peterson English teaching material that most Band One Schools are adopting hence maintaining the competitiveness of students.

Do you think only really talk to a native speaker would improve their Listening skills? Wrong! Adaptability to different tone and assent is the way to succeed in listening skills on the contrary. We give students plenty of chances in listening – A lot! Whether it is movies, TV series, Podcasts, Audiobooks, or other forms of materials, they need a lot of practices.

Students are encouraged to speak during lessons. To avoid delay and translate malfunction, they are encouraged to think in English! They also practice talk to themselves, uses a mirror. Listen and repeat is a good practice for Primary students.

“Reading comprehension” refers to how much a student understand of what he/she reads. Reading Comprehension is a key area that students need to drill on. Through extensive reading student’s vocabulary bank as well as grammar proficiency. We set a delicate time for them to read, read the right books, then improve their fluency. We also challenge and inspire them to ask a lot of questions, then read it again to reinforce understanding. We also encourage them to read a variety of text for better exposure and understanding.

Writing as thinking flows is not a good strategy. Giving the writing a structure is a sure easy-win for students at Primary Level. We make sure students are clear on the concept they are writing about, then tighten the writing to avoid wordy rambling and eliminates filler words and phrases. We also believe in “practice, practice, practice!”. We help students write better by their weakness, and then set their mind to fixing (and eventually preventing) the glitches. The more they write, edit, and proofread, the better they get at it.
